How to make Cashew Sour Cream perfectly?

Some people say they cannot give up having dairy in their kitchen. Probably because they love eating cheese or ice cream, who wouldn’t? However, as we know, dairies usually has some negative effects in the body as well. That’s why it’s a good thing to have some healthy alternative to it.
Cashew sour cream is one of which. Aside from being non-dairy, its taste is also amazingly good. With months of using this as an alternative (yes, it works!), I’ve lost count of ice cream, creamy salad dressings, cheese, and any other dairy foods that I usually eat.
Cashew sour cream is not actually a new idea, some people and food bloggers may have known this. However, for some reason, it has not really come into the majority of the healthy eating community. But, we are going to change that today.
Trust me, this special and amazing cream is not just for the vegan community but for everyone. Most probably you are going to ask, why? This is because as what I’ve said anyone can use it. May it, be an herbivore or omnivore (as what they define us), anyone will love this. And I am here to show you exactly how to do it. Yes, you read it right, you can do it! You don’t need to go to the supermarket just to buy it.

First and Foremost: You must have a good blender and good cashew nuts
Of course, before you start making your cashew sour cream, you need to make sure you have the most important thing you need to make it – the blender and the cashew nuts.
You need a blender that has a good-quality and a high powered one. (Unless of course if you can crush the nuts with your bare hands). I personally advise not to use a food processor because based on my experience, it will not give you the same results a blender can give.
The cashew nuts that you will need on the other hand should be raw and unsalted. The more delicious, fattier, and fresher the cashews, the better the result of the cream. You should buy the best of the best quality of cashews since you’re going to consume it. Of course, you don’t want to compromise your health, right?
What ingredients do you need in making cashew sour cream?
The cashew sour cream that you will be making should be thick, delicious, and tasty. This is a cream that’s why you need to make it foamy yet it shouldn’t be too much. The ingredients you will need in making it may vary depending on what you want to add in it. However, keep in mind that you should just add the necessary ingredients that you really need. This is to make sure that your health will not be harmed.
These are the usual ingredients that I use in making the cream:
After you prepare all the necessary ingredients for your cashew sour cream, you are now ready to make it! However, you must follow the following easy steps:
Soaking the cashews is the first thing you need to do after making sure that you have prepared the necessary ingredients and equipment you need. This is to make the nuts smoother and for the blender to crush it easily.
However, if your blender is high-powered and your cashews are good quality, you don’t need to soak it. There are three methods in soaking your cashews. All of these depends on how hurriedly you need them.
That’s it, now after draining and rinsing your cashews, it must be soft now. What you need to do next is to pour on the cashews into the blender and add water. Take note, the amount of water depends on you, on how thick you want your cream to be. Then add the apple cider vinegar, the lemon zest and juice, and the sea salt. After which blend it thoroughly until it becomes creamy and sooth. (It usually takes three to five minutes to make the mixture creamy and smooth).
And voila, you now have your smooth and creamy cashew sour cream!
Put your home-made cashew sour cream in the refrigerator (for about an hour). Maybe you’re going to ask why? Actually, this is to make the cream much thicker than its usual thickness. You can store your cream in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
- 1On Baked Potatoes. Cashew sour cream is a very good partner for baked potatoes especially with chives, chili, or beans.
- 2As a Base for Dips and Dressings. You can use cashew sour cream as a base for dressings and dips. This doesn’t just add additional taste to the dressing or dip but it also adds to the overall health benefits of the food.
- 3On Mexican Dishes. Cashew sour cream is awesome when partnered with Mexican foods. May it be a rice, sweet potato, or beans, the cream is perfect to add an amazing taste.
- 4As a dip for fries. The cream is also a good choice if you want an alternative to your dips. Aside from its delicious taste, it will give additional health benefit to the body.
Don’t use any old ingredients that have already been stored away. This will not add anything good in your cream. Fresh and new ingredients are much needed to make the cream more delicious.
